The Third One.
Good Afternoon,
This will be relatively short, but there has been something pattering around in my brain the last couple of days, and I think I have finally figured out what I am interested in saying- and that is: we should say more things.
In my journey to adulthood, I'm realizing that we all have secrets simmering just under the surface. There are so many reasons why keeping our emotions to ourselves is commonplace- fear of rejection, restrictions based on circumstance, general inability to emote, inability to handle change, etc. We've all experienced one or more of these moments in our life. Perhaps you want someone in your life, perhaps out of your life. How our thoughts and emotions will be received by the recipient can be terrifying, no question, but ask yourselves this: What will happen if I don't tell this person how I feel, what I need? Swallowing how you feel will only build tension and frustration within yourself. You may not be able to control the response of the other party, but you can save yourself the stress.
I'd like to challenge you to give permission to yourself to be honest, love outward, leave poisonous people behind, and do so with an exclamation point. Love yourself enough to make those declarations, those moves, those changes. Never, ever, shut the fuck up about your feelings- they matter. Growth matters. Love matters. You matter.
I've written a short poem to end the entry.
There will come a moment
inevitable as breaking dawn,
or the swelling of tides,
where words will flow from
my heart unfettered.
In one precocious blip,
accidental, sublime,
all will be relished,
relinquished.
Honesty will overcome fear,
plain and instinctive,
song over silence.
Stripped of insecurity,
undone, burning, organic,
I am in love.
I hope you enjoyed this stuff, and come back for more things.
